The National Energy Efficiency Awards
Climate change is a challenge that is facing us all in our personal and professional lives. Reducing our use of energy and other resources is key to addressing this challenge.
The National Energy Efficiency Awards celebrate the achievements of individuals and their organisations in significantly reducing energy use and thereby helping to combat climate change.
The Awards showcase the successful implementation of innovative, cost effective and transferable energy efficiency measures across a range of categories. They cover the full range of energy users, including large and small companies, the public sector, schools, community groups and individuals.

The National eWell-Being Awards
Now in their seventh successive year, the National eWell-Being Awards promote the benefits of Information and Communication Technologies.
The National eWell-Being Awards are unique in celebrating the social, economic and environmental benefits of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The aim is to identify the most innovative uses of ICT by local authorities, businesses, third-sector organisations and academic institutions.
The awards are designed to promote the tangible benefits that ICT can bring to society the economy and to the environment, along with raising the profile of category winners.
Since their launch in 2002 by SustainIT, an initiative of the UK Centre for Economic and Environmental Development (UK CEED), the awards have attracted over 700 high-quality entries from a diverse range of organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Historical Activities
UK CEED has the ability to deliver complex engagement projects from conception to completion, whilst understanding the environmental policy context and assisting with subsequent policy development.
The Centre has particular expertise in the areas of citizen and stakeholder engagement (including Consensus Conferences, citizens’ juries and panels, online consultation). UK CEED’s projects in this area have included:
- Diffuse Water Pollution from Agriculture
- UK National Consensus Conference on Radioactive Waste
- Citizens’ Jury on Rural Services
- Energy White Paper public consultation for the DTI
- On-Line Consultation for DEFRA
UK CEED has also run some comprehensive education programmes:
- Bag It and Bin It – a national programme run in partnership with the UK water industry, retailers, environmental groups and local authorities.
- Navigate with Nature – a five-year partnership involving DEFRA, the European Commission, the marine industry trade association, marine companies, user groups and the RSPB.
